D.A. Metrov is the webmaster for the famous Bragg Live Food Products company located in Santa Barbara,  California. He is also known for the publication of his fantasy novels, award-winning films and fine art paintings. At the age of 61, Metrov was diagnosed with an extremely rare and highly aggressive form of prostate cancer. Recently he appeared on the international, Health & Longevity radio show, hosted by Dr. John Westerdahl. He tells about how he not only defeated cancer, but restored himself to robust health. The following is based on that interview. The entire interview can be listened to at www.Health AndLongevityRadio.com.

Dr. Westerdahl: Were you surprised when you were diagnosed with cancer?
Metrov: Yes, shocked. I thought I’d been leading a healthy lifestyle, and no one in my family had ever had cancer before. The cancer I had was so lethal it quickly killed the handful of men who’d had it before me. At first I thought I was a goner. Then I decided to fight back.

Dr. Westerdahl: How do you think you got this cancer?
Metrov: I have no idea. Carcinogens are now everywhere in our environment—food, air, water. The more important question is how the cancer actually took hold and began to spread. That occurred when my immune system collapsed. This, I believe, was due ultimately to chronic stress. I set out on a quest to make sure the cancer in my body was not only destroyed, but to learn everything possible to prevent it from ever coming back again.

Dr. Westerdahl: Tell us what you learned from your quest.
Metrov: Due to the nature of the cancer, I had to go through massive chemo and radiation treatments. It was so painful and devastating, I had to tell my oncology team that I’d had enough. We knew the bulk of the cancer had been destroyed by treatment. I decided to trust my body to clean up whatever might remain. I knew for this to work, I had to give my body every advantage possible. I pinpointed three essential aspects to good health: exercise, nutrition, and stress management. Exercise is critical for circulation which delivers nutrients to the body, and eliminates waste. Because commercial foods are now tainted with GMOs, pesticides, growth hormones, MSG, and High Fructose Corn Syrup, the only truly healthy diet is plant-based, i.e. fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, and nuts. Because we live in a high-pressure world—constantly bombarded by news, ads, information, and tensions in the workplace—stress management is perhaps the most important factor in staying healthy. Besides meditating daily, I’ve come to believe that learning to “Let Go” and “Live in the Moment” are the final keys to perfect health.

I feel very fortunate that I had this “adventure” while working with you at Bragg Live Food Products. Not only did you share your extensive knowledge with me, and point my research efforts in the right direction, as webmaster, I was privy to the latest scientific and nutrition reports from around the world on a daily basis. I got valuable, life-saving information years before the average person gets to find out about it. In order to remind myself of everything I need to remember to stay cancer-free, as well as to share what I’ve learned with others, I wrote the book “CONQUER THYSELF.” I urge anyone who’s interested in health to get it as it contains a plethora of priceless information condensed into an easy-to-read handbook.
